I’ve Cleaned Up My Digital Closets
The start of this great cleanup came about me wanting to get an email account outside googles domain. I watched some video's like this nice one from LTT about de-googling your life.
The great purge
Made the choice of Proton mail. But before I wanted to import, I thought, let's clean this mf up.
So I started deleting LOT's of emails. The result was about 3000+ emails became ~60ish. I've ofcourse downloaded all meaningfull attachments to my cloud storage first. But now my google mail wasn't a big ass database anymore.
Proton is neat
So after the purge, I used proton's own importing helper. Which was easy peasy. Also used the forwarding tool to make the transition better. Ofcourse I won't delete google mail right away. I will however start using proton for now. And everytime I get an email of specific website I'll update it accordingly.
This will take few moments, but alas. It had to be done :)
I've also had multiple cloud storage accounts—Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud Drive—you name it. Managing all of them was driving me nuts! So, I took a rigorous approach and went through each one, cleaning them up and organizing everything.
This whole progress took me a few evenings, but I'm happy with it. Feels good.
