Ode to Vaude
Vaude is an outdoor brand that started back in 1974. I wanted to write about it because of my laptop backpack.
I bought a Vaude laptop backpack around 2011, and it’s still my main one today.

This thing is still going strong, and after almost 15 years, that durability is exactly why I love this brand. I still remember buying it. The salesperson told me it was made from recycled truck tarpaulin (or truck tarp, if that’s the right English term). I loved that idea, so I bought it. Fast forward to 2025 — it’s still alive and kicking. Sure, there’s a bit of wear and tear, and some of the brown coating has worn off in places, but it still protects my laptop and gear perfectly.
When I first bought it, I had never even heard of Vaude. But after seeing how well this backpack has held up, I now buy Vaude products without hesitation.
Recently, I picked up a pair of Vaude Aqua Back bicycle bags and a Neyland 2.5-layer hiking jacket. I expect them to last at least another 15 years — and honestly, I believe they will.
If you’re looking for outdoor gear that’s durable, sustainable, and made to last, I can highly recommend Vaude.
